Cecilia Rohic
My inspiration comes mostly from nature and states of emotional feelings. The sun - blinding, falling snow - delightful, ocean - free, light through a misty fog - searching, all captured on a print or canvas.
Acrylic painting and photography have always been passions of mine. Since I was a kid, I either had a camera or paint brush at hand. If I wasn’t anticipating “epic” photo opportunities I was painting. If I was not mixing colorful paints, I was taking a photo to record a painting inspiration. No matter if I am on a family vacation, in the middle of a snow storm, or grocery shopping, I try to never miss an opportunity for a great photo. I have often stopped mid-stride to get a unique perspective on a subject and usually have more camera equipment in my purse than girl stuff.
Painting is my favorite medium because the artwork does not have to look a specific way. It is like when you look at a cloud and it can be one of a dozen things that you see, alternatively that is probably why photography is my second love, it is supposed to look exactly like what you see. I can appreciate a digital composite but ultimately when I take the shot, I want it to capture a moment in time. I am a purist at heart. I can manipulate anything into artwork including digital media but I prefer to let the viewer know if the primary work was done prior to the camera click or afterward. Most sold pieces have very minimal editing and what is edited is usually to bring the piece to print as it was seen the day of capture.
For painted pieces, I strive to sell original artworks so what my patrons own is one of a kind. There is something special about sharing those creative moments and I strive to keep them as unique as the individual buying the piece. I remember how it felt to paint each one and I love it when someone else sees and feels it enough to take it home with them. Connection is what makes life very meaningful.
I strive to also be eco-friendly and save critters, so I’ve done my research and primarily use long lasting synthetics and vegan friendly materials as often as possible.
